Diprosone Ointment is a prescription medication that is used to treat itching and inflammation caused by skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. Diprosone Ointment contains the potent steroid betamethasone dipropionate and works by preventing the release of inflammatory substances in the body.

• Wash your hands before and after applying Diprosone Ointment unless using the medication to treat the hands.
• Stop using this medication once symptoms have cleared up.
• Do not apply this medication to open wounds or skin that is irritated, dry, sunburned, or windburned.
• Do not cover the affected area with bandages or similar unless directed by your doctor.
• Do not apply Diprosene Ointment to the face, underarms, or groin.
• Speak to your doctor if your condition does not improve within two weeks.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications
• Your medical history particularly of skin irritation after using steroid medications, diabetes, liver disease, adrenal gland problems, thinning skin, glaucoma, cataracts, or any skin infections
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• If you are breast-feeding. Do not apply medication to areas that may come into contact with the nursing infant’s mouth.

• You should not apply this Ointment to any condition that has not been checked by a doctor.

Common side effects of Diprosone Ointment include but are not limited to:

• Itching, burning, stinging, redness or blistering where applied
• Skin bruising
• A shiny appearance of the skin
• Redness or crusting around the hair follicles

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of betamethasone dipropionate:

• Severe skin irritation
• Eye pain or vision changes including blurred vision, tunnel vision or seeing halos around lights
• Slow wound healing
• Thinning skin
• Increased body hair
• Muscle weakness or tiredness
• Dry mouth or a fruity breath odor
• Weight gain or face puffiness
• Depression, anxiety or irritability
• Signs of skin infection including skin redness, warmth, swelling, or oozing.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat

What should I do if I miss a dose of Diprosone Ointment?

If you miss a dose of Diprosone Ointment, you should apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
