Arcapta Neohaler is a prescription medication that is used to control the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Arcapta Neohaler contains the bronchodilator medication indacaterol and works by relaxing the muscles in the airways.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Arcapta should only be used in the provided Neohaler device.
• Load one capsule into the inhaler device each time that you use this medication. Use the buttons on the side of the inhaler to pierce the capsule and release the medication.
• Using this inhaler may cause a mild cough for around 15 seconds.
• Do not stop taking Arcapta suddenly as this may worsen your condition.
• Arcapta Neohaler is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used to relieve a bronchospasm attack that has already started.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of heart disease, coronary artery disease, heart rhythm disorder, seizures, diabetes, thyroid disorders or lactose intolerance
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy
• If you are breast-feeding

You should also know:

• Arcapta Neohaler should not be used by anyone younger than 18.
• This medication is used to treat COPD and should not be used to treat asthma.
• Arcapta Neohaler is not a quick-relief inhaler and will not work fast enough to treat a bronchospasm attack that has already started.

Common side effects of Arcapta Neohaler include but are not limited to:

• Headaches.
• Nausea.
• Sore throat.
• Coughing.
• Runny nose.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of indacaterol maleate:

• Fast or pounding heartbeats.
• Chest pain.
• Breathing problems such as wheezing or choking after using this medication.
• Worsening breathing problems.
• Tremors or nervousness.
• Signs of a high potassium level including irregular heartbeats, fluttering in the chest, leg cramps, constipation, muscle weakness, limpness, numbness, or tingling.
• Signs of high blood sugar including dry mouth, fruity breath odor, increased thirst, or increased urination.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Arcapta Neohaler?

If you miss a dose of Arcapta Neohaler, you should use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose. Do not use this inhaler more than once in a 24hour period.
