What is Canasa?

Canasa (mesalamine) is a medication used to treat ulcerative proctitis by decreasing the amount of mucus and blood in your stools, your number of stools and the rectal bleeding that can be caused by irritation or swelling in your colon and rectum. Mesalamine is an anti-inflammatory medication which blocks the production of natural chemicals that can cause pain and swelling. Canasa is a suppository medication taken rectally.
