Cyclocort Cream is a prescription medication that is used to treat itching and inflammation caused by skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. Cyclocort Cream contains the highly potent steroid amcinonide. Amcinonide works by reducing redness, swelling and itching.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Wash your hands before and after using this medication unless the medication is being used to treat the hands.
• Apply a thin layer of medication to the affected area and gently rub it in.
• Do not apply Cyclocort Cream to a large area of skin unless directed by your doctor.
• Do not cover the treated area with bandages or similar unless directed by your doctor.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of skin infections, liver disease, adrenal gland disorders, diabetes or a previous skin reaction to steroid medication.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.

You should also know:

• Do not breast-feed while taking Cyclocort Cream.
• Do not use any other steroid medications on the same skin areas unless directed by your doctor.

Common side effects of Cyclocort Cream include but are not limited to:

• Skin irritation, burning, itching, or dryness to the application area.
• Increased hair growth, acne, stretch marks, or thinning skin.
• Redness or crusting around the hair follicles.
• A white or ‘pruned’ skin appearance.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of amcinonide:

• Worsening of your skin condition.
• Severe irritation, swelling, warmth, redness, or oozing at application area. 
• Signs of high blood sugar including increased thirst or urination, dry mouth, or a fruity breath odor.
• Signs that this medication has been absorbed through the skin including slow wound healing, thinning skin, discolored skin, increased body hair, weight gain, nausea, diarrhea, muscle weakness, headaches, tiredness, pain behind the eyes, sexual changes, menstrual changes or mood changes.
• In children, signs that growth or weight gain is affected.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Cyclocort Cream?

If you miss a dose of Cyclocort Cream, you should apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
