Edarbi is a prescription medication that is used to treat high blood pressure. Edarbi is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) medication that contains azilsartan. Azilsartan improves blood flow by lowering blood pressure. Azilsartan may be taken alone or with other blood pressure medications.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• You can take Edarbi with or without food.
• Your blood pressure may need to be regularly checked while taking this medication.
• Continue to take this medication even when you feel well. Blood pressure medication may need to be taken for the rest of your life.

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of kidney disease, congestive heart failure or an electrolyte imbalance.
• If you are on a low-salt diet.

You should also know:

• This medication can cause harm or death when taken during the second or third trimester of pregnancy. Use effective birth control while using this medication. Stop taking this medication and speak to your doctor if you become pregnant.
• You should not breast-feed while taking Edarbi.
• This medication is not approved to be used by anyone younger than 18.

Common side effects of Edarbi include but are not limited to:

• Diarrhea.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of azilsartan.

• Shortness of breath.
• Urination that is painful or difficult.
• Little or no urination.
• Lightheadedness or feeling like you might pass out.
• Tiredness.
• Ankle or feet swelling.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives or swelling in your face, lips or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Edarbi?

If you miss a dose of Edarbi, you should take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.

Edarbi is available in a strength of 40mg and 80mg.
