Eurax Cream is a prescription medication that is used to treat scabies and to reduce itching caused by several skin conditions. Eurax Cream contains the anti-parasite drug crotamiton and works by killing parasites that either live or lay eggs in your skin.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• When treating scabies, bath or shower and then dry thoroughly before applying a thin layer of cream to all areas of your body from your neck to the soles of your feet. This includes all skin folds, between your toes and underneath nails. Apply a second dose 24 hours later without washing your skin first. Thoroughly wash all medication off 48 hours after the final application.
• When treating itching, rub the medication into the affected area until it is completely absorbed.
• Wash all clothes, bed clothes, bed linens, combs, hairbrushes, and hats with hot water and a strong cleanser to prevent reinfection.
• If you get this cream in your eyes or mouth, then rinse with water.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• This medication is not approved to be used by anyone younger than 18.
• You should wash all clothes, bed cloths, bed linens, combs, hair brushes and hats with hot water and a strong cleanser to prevent reinfection.
• This medication will not prevent you spreading scabies to other people. Avoid sexual or intimate contact with other people and do not share personal articles including hair accessories, combs, clothes, hats and bed linens.

Common side effects of Eurax Cream include but are not limited to:

• Mild itching.
• A new rash.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of crotamiton:

• Severe irritation, stinging, or burning where applied.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Eurax Cream?

Eurax needs to be used twice, 24 hours apart. If you miss the second dose, you may need to restart your treatment. Speak to your doctor if this occurs.
