Lotemax Eye Drops is a prescription medication that is used to treat eye irritation, inflammation, swelling or pain following eye surgery. Lotemax contains the corticosteroid loteprednol and works by relieving symptoms of inflammation.

• Wash your hands and remove contact lenses before applying Lotemax.
• Shake the medication well before using it.
• Tip your head backward. Hold the medication directly above the eye and squeeze out a drop. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes and use your finger to prevent any liquid from draining into the eye duct.
• Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or let it touch any surface to prevent contamination.
• If you have surgery on both eyes, use different bottles for each eye, and do not mix up the bottles.
• You may need your blood pressure checked if you take this medication for an extended time.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies.
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
• Your medical history particularly of tuberculosis of viral infections of the eye.
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.
• If you are breast-feeding.

You should also know:

• You may be more sensitive to light while using this medication. Wear sunglasses when needed.
• Using Lotemax for an extended period of time can increase the risk of glaucoma or cataracts.
• Lotemax may affect your vision. Avoid driving or operating machinery until it can be done safely.

• Mild eye irritation, burning or itching
• Blurred vision.
• Feeling like something is in your eye.
• Dry eyes.
• Headaches.
• Runny nose.
• Sore throat.

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of loteprednol:

• Severe eye irritation.
• Eye pain.
• Vision changes.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Lotemax Eye Drops?

If you miss a dose of Lotemax Eye Drops, you should use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
