Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension is a prescription medication that is used to treat conditions involving high pressure inside the eye including ocular hypertension and glaucoma. Simbrinza is a combination medication that contains brimonidine and brinzolamide and works by reducing the amount of fluid in the eye.

Make sure to always read the patient information and instructions before using this medication. Always follow your doctor’s directions.

• Wash your hands and remove contact lenses before applying this medication.
• Shake Simbrinza Ophthalmic Solution before using.
• Tip your head backward and use your finger to pull down your lower eyelid. Hold the eyedropper directly above the eye, look away and squeeze out a single drop. Keep your eyes closed for 2-3 minutes and press your finger to the tear duct to prevent liquid from draining away.
• Wait at least five minutes before using any other eye medication.
• Do not touch the tip of the eyedropper to prevent contamination.
• Simbrinza should not be used if it has visible particles or has changed color.
• Wait at least fifteen minutes before replacing contact lenses.
• Tell your doctor immediately if you have an eye infection injury or need eye surgery.

Tell your doctor and pharmacist:

• About your drug and other allergies
• If you take any other prescription or over-the-counter medications
• Your medical history particularly of glaucoma, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, stroke, blood clots, kidney disease, liver disease, circulation problems, high blood pressure, low blood pressure or depression
• If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy

You should also know:

• Do not breast-feed while using Simbrinza.
• This medication can cause drowsiness or vision changes. Avoid driving or operating machinery until you can do so safely.

Common side effects of Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension include but are not limited to:

• Blurred vision
• Mild eye irritation, itching or redness
• Dry mouth
• An unpleasant taste in the mouth

Get medical help if you have any of the following side effects of Simbrinza:

• Signs of a severe skin reaction including fever, burning in the eyes, skin pain, swelling in the face or tongue, or a red or purple skin rash that spreads, blisters, and peels.
• Signs of sudden liver failure including dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice, nausea, vomiting, itching, tiredness, confusion, rapid weight gain, or loss of appetite.
• Signs of bone marrow suppression including fever, chills, red or swollen gums, pale skin, sore throat, trouble swallowing, rapid heart rate, concentration problems, shortness of breath, or lightheadedness.
• Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.

What should I do if I miss a dose of Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension?

If you miss a dose of Simbrinza Ophthalmic Suspension, you should apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, then skip your missed dose.
