Vancocin is a prescription medication that is used to treat infections in the intestines and staph infections in the colon or small intestine. Vancocin contains the antibiotic vancomycin and works by fighting bacteria in the intestines. This medication is not absorbed into the body and will not treat other infections.

- Ringing in your ears.
- Hearing loss.
- Signs of low potassium such as an uneven heart rate, increased urination, increased thirst, confusion, muscle weakness, limp feeling, or leg discomfort.
- Signs of a kidney problem including rapid weight gain, swelling, little or no urination, or pain in your side or lower back.
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling in your face, lips, or throat.
